“You realize how dumb that sounds out loud?” He huffs. “Come to turn in a bounty, have you? Are you that desperate for wealth? To turn in the guy just living with his cats?”īlisk’s face screws up in a mixture of confusion and amusement. “I’m upset you’re even here,” he counters weakly. Did she not realize that this man is lethal and dangerous? To be fair, the same could be said about himself, but that’s beside the point. While yes, that is exactly what he’s upset about, he’d never admit it out loud. “What’s the matter, Robert? Upset that your cat betrayed you?”
“You’re all bark and no bite, eh?” He looks over to Barker with a smirk on his face. “There’s a good girl,” Blisk rumbles, ruffling her ears gently. After a moment spent warily investigating Blisk, Whiskey shoves her entire head into his hand affectionately. Much to Barker’s dismay, no biting action takes place. Chomp down on his stupid, meaty, blood-stained fingers. With obvious disdain, she sniffs it warily. Blisk is persistent, however, and when she doesn’t actually move to swat at him, he waits. She hisses again, arching her back and whipping her tail. Whiskey tenses as the hand reaches towards her. Bite his stupid hand and show him that we’re not letting him in here. Bite him, Whiskey, Barker thinks to himself. “Easy there, girlie,” he chuckles, stooping over to extend his hand. Blisk looks almost concerned for a moment, giving Barker the urge to laugh at the most inopportune moment, before steeling his face back into a neural look. If Barker was on the opposite end of that, he’s sure he’d die. Whiskey is outright yowling now, edging her way closer to Blisk. Barker only realizes now that one arm is carrying a bundled-up blanket. There’s a backpack slung over his shoulder. Blisk is still covered in scars from his youth as well as a great smattering of extras from more recent battles. His hair, once brown, is peppered with gray and white strands. (He uses the word “ally” very loosely: not allies, but they were fighting on the same side, and he was partaking in the same orders Blisk had been before Barker and MacAllan bailed.) He is wearing civilian clothes that look uncomfortably formal on his body. Kuben Blisk, his former IMC ally, stands in the doorway.
